PaperSummary of Pony and Ralli Car
A photograph of a couple out for a drive in a Ralli Car.
Full description
The carriage in this photograph is a Ralli Car. They were a carriage that stemmed from the Dog Cart family and were popular for use for shopping, trips to market and sporting days out. The pony is a little too big for the carriage as the shafts are tilting upwards towards the tips and the floor of the carriage is not level. Pony, harness and carriage appear to be very well maintained and cared for. Note that the belly band is wrapped twice around the shaft and is tucked through a brass keeper on the pad.
